Explore Playing A Game

• Objective

  As with most games, the objective in Guess & Know is to collect the most points. Unlike some games, there isn't necessarily a set end point, because sometimes you just run out of time! With Guess & Know the host can pull down the scoreboard at any time and declare a winner.

• Start Game Play

  The host, the person operating the iPad, randomly chooses a contestant to call for the first question. This contestant asks for a specific category and point value -- usually working downward from the smaller values to the higher values as a way of getting to know the theme behind the category.

• Displaying The First Question

  Before tapping that first game cell, if any of the contestants are using Guess & Know Companion, the host should remind these contestants to observe the red buzzer on their screens and to hold down their finger on the buzzer so it turns yellow, indicating they are ready for the question to be read.

  Tap the game cell indicated by the contestant who chose.

  As the host reads the question out loud, contestants are allowed to buzz in as soon as they think they know the answer.

• Awarding The Correct Answer

  About three seconds after calling up the question for display a row of contestant buttons will appear along the bottom of the iPad (they do not show on the TV, if one is attached).

  Tap the contestant button who answered (rightly or wrongly) and you will see their button extend upwards with two additional buttons, a green checkmark and a red X. The green checkmark is used if the answer was correct, and the red X indicates the question was answered incorrectly. Tap the appropriate indicator. Scores are updated immediately, both on the iPad and on the Companion device.
